As with profit-sharing, the argument for power-sharing was in part that it would create a more cooperative relationship between labour and capital. The aforementioned party pamphlet, ‘The Facts about Ownership for All’, from around 1950, explained that ‘Labour and Capital Must Not Fight’: A good firm is a happy one, and a happy firm is one where Labour and Management work together as a team. Liberal co-ownership would ensure that in every sizable industrial concern the employees have elected representation on the Directorate. This is Industrial Democracy.

Under this system the workers would have a real responsibility for their work. They would take a full interest in it as they would have a greater knowledge of the policy of the company and [due to profit-sharing] would profit from its increased efficiency.
